Back Pain Treatment in Alfreton | Sports Therapy for Relief

Struggling with Back Pain in Alfreton?

Back pain gets into everything. It can be stiffness first thing in the morning, an ache from sitting at a desk, soreness after lifting, or pain that stops you training. Treatment is aimed at getting you moving comfortably again, not just easing it for a day.

I work from Beyond the Finish Sports Therapy in Morton, near Alfreton. I see office workers, tradespeople, parents and people who train. How I work is on the about page. Book an assessment on the booking page.

Common causes

Back pain rarely has one cause. The ones I see most are:

  • Poor posture and long hours sitting
  • Lifting and manual work
  • Muscle tightness
  • Sports injuries and training overload
  • Stiffness and reduced movement
  • Stress, which shows up as tight muscles
  • Weakness that changes how you move

Rest on its own is rarely the fix. The better result usually comes from hands-on treatment, the right movement, and a simple plan you can keep up.

How treatment helps

The aim is to find out why it started, not only to rub where it hurts. A session may include:

  • Hands-on work to ease muscle tension and make the area more comfortable to move.
  • A look at how you move, so stiff parts are not left to keep irritating the back.
  • Rehab exercises for strength, control and stability. These are for you, not a generic sheet.
  • Posture and desk advice where sitting or lifting is part of the problem.
  • A return to activity plan if you want to get back to running, climbing, cycling, the gym, or just a normal day without guarding every movement.

Lower back pain that travels, including sciatica-type pain, is covered on the lower back pain page. Neck and shoulder pain often sit with it: neck pain and shoulder pain.

What I commonly see

  • General lower back pain and upper back pain
  • Postural backache
  • Stiffness and muscle tension
  • Back pain from sport, including running
  • Back pain from work
  • Pain that keeps coming back

If you are not sure sports therapy is right for you, message me before you book and describe the symptoms. Other common questions are on the FAQs.

Why people come here

Treatment follows what is actually going on with you, not a set script. I run ultras, and I also cycle, swim and climb, so I know what it takes to stay active while something hurts. I see just as many people who do not train.

The clinic is in Morton, near Alfreton. People also come from Chesterfield, Clay Cross, Ripley, South Normanton, Mansfield and Tibshelf. What clients have written is on the reviews page.

FAQs

Can sports therapy help lower back pain?Often, yes. It can ease pain, improve how you move, and deal with the things that keep setting it off. It will not fix every back problem.

How many sessions will I need?It depends how long you have had it and how irritable it is. Some people feel a change after one session. Others need a short rehab plan.

Should I stop exercising? Not always. Total rest is rarely the best option. I will tell you what to change so you can stay active without stirring it up.

Is this only for athletes? No. A lot of clients are office workers, parents and tradespeople.

Areas

Alfreton, Clay Cross, Chesterfield, Ripley, South Normanton, Mansfield, Tibshelf and the rest of Derbyshire. Sports massage in Alfreton is also available when the problem is mainly muscle tightness.
