Sports Massage Alfreton

Sports Massage in Alfreton

Looking for a sports massage in Alfreton?

I work from Beyond the Finish Sports Therapy in Morton, a short drive from the town centre. Treatment is hands-on and aimed at tight muscles, restricted movement and the aches that build up from training, work or everyday life.

Whether you are getting ready for an event, managing a running or cycling load, or you just feel stiff, the session is built around what you need. If you would rather read how I work first, that is on the about page. To book, use the online booking page.

Clients come from Alfreton, South Normanton, Clay Cross, Ripley, Somercotes, Swanwick, Chesterfield and the rest of Derbyshire. There are separate pages if you are travelling from Chesterfield, Clay Cross, South Normanton or Tibshelf.

What is sports massage?

Sports massage is targeted work on the muscles and soft tissue that are limiting how you move. The name is misleading. You do not need to be an athlete.

It is useful for office workers, tradespeople, parents, runners, cyclists, swimmers, climbers, gym-goers, and anyone who is stiff, sore or not moving as well as they want to.

Why people book

Most people come in with one of these:

  • Neck pain and shoulder tension
  • Lower back pain or general back pain
  • Tight hamstrings or hips
  • Soreness after training
  • Running niggles, including calves, Achilles, IT band and runner's knee
  • Heel and arch pain, including plantar fasciitis
  • Stress-related tightness
  • General aches that will not settle

A session can ease that tension, improve how freely you move, and help you recover between training. It is not a cure-all, and I will say so if something needs a different approach. Common questions are on the FAQs page.

Runners

I run ultras, so I know what a build-up does to calves, Achilles, quads and the IT band. Massage can help with those, and with recovery between races, including marathon prep. Knee pain that comes on with mileage is covered on the runner's knee page.

Cyclists

Long rides often show up as neck pain, shoulder tension, tight hips and a sore lower back. Treatment works on the positions you hold on the bike.

Desk work

Sitting for hours commonly causes neck pain, shoulder tension, upper-back stiffness, poor posture and headaches. The session is aimed at that, with simple advice for between appointments.

If you are not competing

You do not need a race on the calendar. Plenty of clients just want to feel less stiff, hurt less, and stay active.

Why Beyond the Finish

Every session starts with what is going on for you, not a set routine. I run, cycle, swim and climb, so I understand training load as well as desk and manual work. What clients have said is on the reviews page.

The clinic is in Morton, near Alfreton, and people travel from across Derbyshire.

What to expect

We start with a short chat about your symptoms, what you do for work and training, and what you want from the session. The massage is then aimed at the areas that need it. You only undress as much as you are comfortable with. Afterwards I will give you straightforward advice, and simple rehab if it will help.

FAQs

Is sports massage painful? It can be uncomfortable on a very tight spot. Pressure is always adjusted to what you can tolerate.

How often should I come? Some people book once. Others come monthly, or around a training block, or when something flares up. We will decide that together.

Do I have to play sport? No. A lot of clients are office workers, parents and tradespeople who want to move more easily.

Can it help back pain?It can ease the muscle tension that sits with a lot of back pain, and it can be part of a wider plan. It will not fix every back problem on its own.

Can it help neck and shoulder tension?Yes. That is one of the most common reasons people book. See neck pain and shoulder pain if that is the main issue.
